Pink FM Morning Show Host Beaten To Pulp

Information reaching Adomonline indicates that the morning show host of Kasoa-based Pink FM has been beaten to pulp by some drivers of the Kasoa branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) in the Central region.

According to reports, the show host, Kwabena Agyapong was accused of taking sides in the internal politics of the Kasoa GPRTU.

The Regional Chairman, Yaw Kuma who was aggrieved by the conduct of the morning show host reportedly led his men to the radio station on Wednesday morning and subjected him [Agyapong] and his producers to severe beatings.

They are said to have also vandalized cars and other properties of the station during the attack.

Narrating his ordeal on Oman FM, Kwabena Agyapong expressed shock at the conduct of the Regional Chairman.

He indicated that as a concerned citizen, he wanted to broker peace between Mr. Kuma and the Ashanti regional branch chairman, Nana who are at loggerheads.

Kwabena Agyapong explained that Yaw Kuma unilaterally organized an election to oust the Ashanti Regional branch Chairman but the decision was halted by the national leadership of GPRTU.

When Pink FM invited the Ashanti Regional Chairman to the studio to discuss the issue, Mr. Kuma took offence and stormed the station with his men.

“They overpowered the security man and entered the studio, broke the glass with a stone and subjected us to beatings” he added.

Kwabena Agyapong said not even the passionate pleas for mercy by the General Manager and his colleagues was able to save them and only the timely intervention of some well-built men saved them from being “lynched by the angry drivers.”

The Pink FM morning show host expressed disappointment in the Kosoa police who, in spite of their proximity to the radio station, only arrived after Mr. Kuma and his men had left.

An official complaint has been lodged with the Police and investigations have began, he added.
