Well Leave NDC Youth In Kumasi Declare

There is confusion in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Today can report

This worrying development in the NDC, the paper gathered, follows the frustration and anger of some NDC youth, who are members of Umbrella Movement (UM), a youth group within the NDC.

And consequently they are threatening to defect to other political parties in the country if the party leadership does not address their concerns.

The anger of the NDC youth, this paper found out, is as a result of what they have described as deliberate neglect of them by the party and for that matter the government.

In an interview with some members of UM who spoke on condition of anonymity they stressed that they cannot understand why President Mahama and the Ashanti regional executives of the NDC would use them for their “dirty work and dump them afterwards.”

They explained to this paper that it was through their hard work and resilience that the NCD won power in 2012.

The group, which is made up of some parliamentary candidates in the 2008 and 2012 polls, constituency executives, polling station executives and frontline party leaders, lamented that their hard work during the two national general elections had not been recognised, let alone be rewarded by the current NDC administration.

According to them, they fought “life and death battles” during both general elections (2008 and 2012) which situation helped the NDC to win power.

They revealed that it was “hell” working for the NDC in the Ashanti region where it is believed to be the stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The leaders of the group further alleged that only a few, who are cronies of President John Dramani Mahama in the region, had been considered for appointments, whilst majority of equally deserving members are being marginalised.

They subsequently described the Yaw Owusu Bimpeh led-administration in Kumasi as “selfish” who think only about themselves.

They also alleged that all their attempts to secure jobs were blocked by the party leadership in the Ashanti region with no apparent reason.
