NDC Worried At ECs Limited Registration Exercise Gen Mosquito

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the idea of Electoral Commission's [EC’s] limited voters registration is worrying and unacceptable.

Surprise at the on-going limited voter registration exercise being conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), Asiedu Nketia also known as ‘General Mosquito’ noted that the exercise nearly swept him off his feet.

The EC began the limited registration exercise last week at its district offices across the country.

However, speaking to OKAY FMs "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, the ‘General’ said he needed to call his comrade chief scribe from the opposition NPP to confirm the news.

“When I heard it, I was surprised so I decided to call Kwabena Agyapong to find out more. The EC must explain things to us more because I don’t understand the exercise,” he said.

However, the NPP has also described the exercise in a statement as “fear and panic”

“In the circumstances, the New Patriotic Party calls on the Electoral Commission to suspend the intended exercise and properly plan any new registration in consultation with its Stakeholders. To that end, we call on the Commission to convene an IPAC Meeting, without delay,” the statement read.
