Agric Minister Takes Lessons From Israel Agritech

Ghana’s Minister of Food and Agriculture, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has participated in the 19th International Agricultural Exhibition and Conference —Agritech 2015 held at the Tel-Aviv Convention Center, Israel.  

The Agritech exhibition and conference held in Israel once every three years is one of the most important events on the global agricultural calendar and is considered to be the biggest agricultural exhibition outside of the US.

Held under the theme, facing challenges in post-harvest and food loses’ it featured an expanded exhibitors profile on post-harvest and first stage food processing and a conference programme on post-harvest and food security with international keynotes and workshops.

Agritech 2015 showcased some of the best and latest agricultural innovations by well-established companies and start-ups from Israel and the world.

About 30,000 Israeli and 9,000 foreign visitors from 117 countries took part in the event. Agritech 2015 also received 22 official delegations including eight ministerial delegations from across the world.

Mr. Kwetey held a bilateral meeting with his Israeli counterpart; Yair Shamir, presented at some of the conference’s round tables, toured the exhibition and was inspired by Israeli technological innovations in the field of agriculture.

The minister was also involved in field visits, featuring the model of co-operative based agriculture.
