RE: NDC Counsels NPP - Asabee Writes

I have read the statement of the NDC and comments by their national organiser on the sad death of Mr. Adam Mahama. The NDC should be advised to refrain from using the unfortunate death of Mr. Mahama to fan political strife in the NPP.

I say this because the statement by the NDC General-Secretary and the comments by the National Organiser have already come to the quick conclusion that the death of Mr. Mahama is the result of internal NPP strife and that the crime leading to his death has been committed by NPP people.

We must remember that the NDC is the political party in power that currently controls the state machinery and the security and investigative agencies. We are well aware that in this period leading to general elections next year, the NDC has been desperately trying to paint the NPP in a negative light. If the state security services are teleguided by the NDC government to skew their investigations into this case, to forment an NPP strife, it will definitely enure to the political advantage of the NDC.

I consider it insensitive for the NDC to use the death of a fellow human being for party political advantage.

It may well turn out later that this could have been the result of internal NPP difference. On the other hand, it may also turn out that some other sinister interested parties could have taken advantage of current differences within the NPP to commit some offence which could easily be blamed on NPP elements.

It is for this reason why it is important not to rule anything out or in, until thorough investigations reveal the real cause of events. That is why the NDC should not rush into judgement and make crass remarks on events that their own party is equally guilty.
