NPP Youth Are Being Moved By Emotions; Tension Will Go Down - Sammy Awuku

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has dismissed reports that several youth in the party have taken over the head office.

According to him, the news of the party's Upper East Regional Chairman evoked emotions of the party's youth, who felt shocked by his tragic death.

Some aggrieved youth of the opposition party, were said to have declared a "coup" against the party's Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong saying they no longer needed their leadership.

They suspect the death of Mahama Adams was orchestrated by the duo.

Speaking on Oman Fm’s National Agenda, Sammy Awuku opined that in moments of extreme emotional pain, one might be tempted to go overboard, insisting that “it was emotional talk because the truth of the matter is that if we don’t work at the party’s office, where do we operate from?”

If we all need victory, we must work from a place; there should be a common place for us to work. It is also incumbent that the youth in the party will create that enabling environment for the party executives to sit, plan and work, so I will plead with them,” he pleaded.

He assured that the death of Mahama Adams will be treated as a criminal case; thus nobody will hide behind political colors to commit crime and go unpunished, giving hope to the youth that “crime has no expiry date”.

“NPP is not prepared to shield anybody in this investigation; nobody will be spared and shielded,” he reassured, whiles pointing out that in times like this, controlling the youth might be a bit difficult.

The truth of the matter is that when people say we are losing control, I don’t understand them because honestly we are not robots...you can’t say you can tie all the youth with a long rope to direct their path in this happenings...but as time go on the tension will go down and reason will begin to prevail,” he stated.
