Murder Of NPP UER Chair Is Politics Gone Wrong - Nduom

The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has described the heinous murder of Alhaji Adams Mahama as “politics gone wrong”.

He said the desperation and division that had crept into our politics in general and the New Patriotic Party, specifically, must be condemned.

Sharing his view on the murder of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP with the Daily Graphic, Dr Nduom advised, “We must all speak and work to reduce the negative influence of professional politicians who want power at all cost.”

In line with this, he called on the police and other law enforcement agencies to, as a matter of urgency, thoroughly investigate the murder of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said politics must be a stage to use to serve the nation, not to meet selfish personal needs.

Dr Nduom stressed that Ghanaians needed people who would practise unity and peace and not those who would divide the people.

According to him, this should be a lesson to all political parties and promised that the PPP leadership would strengthen its resolve to demonstrate tolerance, togetherness and common purpose.

In a related development, the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) is flying its flag at half mast in solidarity with the NPP over the murder of the regional chairman.

A statement issued by the party stated that the death of Mahama was a huge political tragedy.

According to the statement, leaders of the Movement for Freedom and Justice – the late Dan Lartey, the late Prof. Adu- Boahene, the late Obeng Manu, and the late Jonny Hanson – on August 1 1990 fought for the culture of silence to end so that Ghanaians could have multi-party politics instead of military rule.

The statement said they never thought in their wildest dreams that the democracy they courageously fought for in Ghana would turn out this way, since they ‘’fought for us to be able to “jaw jaw and not war war'.'

“We pray that the police will find and arrest the criminals as soon as possible,’’ the statement said.
