Afoko, Agyepong Should Be Suspended If... Owusu Bempah

The founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah has lashed out at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the ghastly acid-attack on its Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama.

According to him, the party is gradually portraying itself as a violent party which in his opinion could affect their electoral fortunes in 2016.

Adams Mahama died after assailants poured acid on him in front of his house. He has since been buried in accordance with the Islamic traditions as the police continue to investigate the crime.

However, the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong have been accused after brother of Mr. Afoko was arrested by the police in connection with the crime.

Majority of party members are demanding the immediate resignation of the two leaders – a position some in the party vehemently disagrees. But Rev. Owusu Bempah maintains that calls for their [Afoko, Agyepong] resignation is premature.

In his view, the National Chairman and General Secretary should be suspended if found to be the orchestrators of the crime.

“Kwabena Agyepong and Afoko should be suspended and replaced if they are behind the attack to serve as a deterrent to others” he stressed.

The man of God said he has taken special interest in the NPP’s affairs because it could be the party in power in the future and does not want criminals to take charge of the country.

“I don’t know why people criticize pastors who dabble in politics. We are also citizens of Ghana and have the right to express our opinions because we pay taxes” he said.

Rev. Owusu Bempah urged the NPP not to interfere in the case and allow the security agencies to investigate thoroughly for the culprits to face the full rigorous of the law.
