The ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] is now campaigning against acid after the death of NPP’s Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama.

Branded party campaign vans with the inscription “Operation 1 Million Votes From Ashanti Region” and president Mahama’s picture and a hashtag sticker “#Acid Kills”, has gone viral on social media with some mixed reactions.

Whereas some believe the idea of the campaign is laudable, others think the timing is wrong since that could add salt to wounds within the Mahama family.

This is so shameful, very disgusting and nauseating. I always maintain that in NDC we are dealing with heartless savages not humans. This is an insult to the family of Adams Mahama,” a comment beneath the picture.

Mahama’s death

Two men allegedly poured acid on Adams Mahama when he was returning from his construction site late in the night.

The NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him.

He was then rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he lost his life Thursday morning after mentioning two names as the offenders.

Suspect

An Accra Magistrate Court has remanded Gregory Afoko, the junior brother of the New Patriotic Party Chairman, Paul Afoko to Police custody as first suspect.

Gregory Afoko is standing trial for the murder of Upper East Region chairman of the party, Adams Mahama.

He has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and murder.
