Akua Donkor Attends Buharis Inauguration In Nigeria

Believe it or not, Ghana’s aspiring uneducated presidential candidate, Madam Akua Donkor was in Nigeria for a historic event.

The Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor was among world leaders and presidential aspirants who gathered in Nigeria during Muhammadu Buhari's swearing in as the 15th president of Nigeria.

Dressed in Ghana’s most recognized fabric, ‘Kente’, with her tag on, Madam Akua Donkor posed for a picture taken by BBC’s Akwasi Sarpong who is covering the event live for the international media.

Many have questioned Akua Donkor’s presence at such high profile events but the courageous farmer-politician seems unperturbed.

Her presence at the Eagle Square where the ceremony was held means she was officially invited.

Mr. Buhari is the first opposition figure to win a presidential election in Nigeria's 55 years of independence.

He took over from Goodluck Jonathan, who has urged his successor to unite the country in the face of the threat from Boko Haram militants.

Mr. Buhari, a former military ruler, says he is a convert to democracy.
"I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody," he told cheering crowds at the inauguration in the capital, Abuja.

He vowed to tackle "head on" the issues of corruption and the insurgency from militant Islamist group Boko Haram.
