U20 World Cup: Yaw Yeboah Earns Ghana Point In Opener against Austria

Manchester City midfielder Yaw Yeboah won and converted a penalty as Ghana battled to a 1-1 draw with Austria at the ongoing FIFA Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Yeboah was pushed in the penalty area after a mazy run and he picked himself up to fire the spot kick past Tino Casali.

Austria had looked the more organized side throughout the match and probably deserved to win the game whilst Ghana missed the influence of the absent Clifford Aboagye.

Lawrence Ati kept the game scoreless after pulling off a couple of good saves in the first half, but the Austrians took the lead five minutes into the second half.

Bernd Gschweidl saw his shot blocked by Ati’s legs but fired home the rebound for the opener. Ghana had by this time replaced David Atanga with Prosper Kassim.

The Black Satellites plugged away but looked set to lose the game until Yeboah won the penalty.

With Argentina drawing 2-2 with Panama in the other Group B game, all four teams are tied on a point each.
