Bolgatanga Technical Senior High School Closed Down Indefinitely

The Bolgatanga Technical Senior High School was closed down on Saturday indefinitely following students’ riot.

Narrating the incident to the media, the Principal of the School, Mr Thomas Amare stated that on Friday midnight, the watchman of the school came to his bungalow to report to him that Master Castro Ayine, a first year student of the school has fallen down from a three- storey building.

This followed a stampede due to sparks of fire coming from the boys’ dormitory.

He said Ayine, who suffered a fracture was rushed to the Bolgatanga hospital and referred to the Tamale Teaching hospital for further treatment.

He said the students went on hunger strike and on rampage, demanding that the school authorities renovate the building immediately.

He said even the intervention of the Municipal Director, Mr Gregory Amoah to calm down the students proved futile.

He indicated that the school’s authorities had to seek assistance from the Police to avert any eventualities and also resolved to close down the school indefinitely.
