CPP, PNC Asked To Protect Alliance

The leadership of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) have been urged to “do everything” to protect the new alliance.

According to the CPP parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi South in the 2012 election, Ms Harriet Anita Abaidoo, “If this opportunity slips through our fingers, we will never be forgiven by the people of Ghana”.

“The cry of the masses is to see all Nkrumaist together and to do away with personal demands, selfishness, greed, crave to amass wealth, but rather exhibit a standard that will make a remarkable difference,” she said in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra.

Ms Abaidoo commended the leadership of the two parties for the bold decision, describing it as “a perfect plan to restore the Nkrumaist image”.

Background
The leadership of the CPP and PNC declared its resolve to regroup and constitute one strong and unshakable Nkrumaist party in their bid to recapture power in the 2016 general election.

In line with this, the two parties have signed and agreed to constitute all elected executive officers of the two parties to organise one national congress and elect national officers to steer the affairs of both parties.

A similar national congress will be organised to elect a presidential candidate.

According to Ms Abaidoo, the unification of the two Nkrumaist parties will certainly build the lost hope and trust the Nkrumaist front has suffered over the past years.

Don’t let it slip
Ms Abaidoo, who is also the Vice-Chairperson of the Okaikoi South Constituency branch of the CPP, urged the leaders to work together to rid the party of any internal and external issues that had the tendency to affect the union negatively.

“All Nkrumaists must bury their grievances and work towards the crown of unity since that will be the turning point for the nation. Ghanaians are looking up and waiting for this dream to come to pass,” she said.

Ms Abaidoo said since getting power was not easy and power would not be given to the two parties on a silver platter, there was the need for members to bury all pettiness and squabbles to have a formidable team to take over power in 2016.
