Some NPP Leaders Assure Mahama Of A Second Term...

Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong says some members of the party are plotting the defeat of the party ahead of the 2016 general election.

He alleged that, some NPP gurus have resolved to help President Mahama win the 2016 elections if Nana Akufo-Addo is elected flagbearer for the third time.

Ken Agyapong’s latest comment supports allegation of Agenda 2020 supposedly being championed by sympathizers of presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen.

As part of the Agenda 2020, it is alleged that current Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong described as protégés of ex-president Kufuor will ensure that Akufo-Addo loses the 2016 election if their preferred candidate, [Alan] is not elected flagbearer – an allegation they [Afoko, Kwabena Agyapong] have vehemently denied and rubbished.

But in an interview on Adom FM Wednesday, Kennedy Agyapong stated unequivocally that the Agenda 2020 is no longer a fiction; “it is real”.

Failing to mention those directly involved, he alleged that some leading members for the love of money have ceded the NPP’s victory in 2016 to the “incompetent” Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Assin Central MP said no one is to blame for the party’s electoral fortunes in both 2008 and 2012 because “we are our own enemies."

“I’m even fed up with what is going on in the party; we caused our own defeat in 2008 and 2012 but I want to tell those behind Agenda 2020 that if you intentionally sabotage your fellow party man, you will be sabotaged” he warned.

He noted that his outburst is not to wash the NPP’s dirty linen in public, but they must know that “when you throw a ball to the wall, it bounces back to you”.

Ken Agyapong warned those masterminding the Agenda 2020 to be wary at the dire consequences of their action since it will come biting them hard when it is their turn to also vie for the flagbearership position.

“I will also campaign for President Mahama in 2020 if the NPP loses the 2016 elections” he assured.
