Ignore Attention Seeking Occupyghana Omane-Boamah

The Minister of Commuication, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah, has described Occupy Ghana as an attention seeking organisation.

Posting on his Facebook wall, the Minister called for Occupy Ghana to be ignored.

“Ignore Occupy Ghana's attention seeking behaviour and focus,”Dr Omane-Boamah wrote Thursday.

It is not clear what prompted his remark, but Occupy Ghana has been criticised in recent times by members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have accused the pressure group of being an appendage of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The organisation, which says it is fighting corruption, infrastructure decay and holding state institutions to strict scrutiny, has, however, been consistent and clear in stating that it is not affiliated to the NPP.

A leading member of the group, Ace Ankomah, stressed in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM Tuesday that the NPP could not afford to pay for his services.

He said: “I mean seriously, you really think the NPP can pay me?”

Mr Ankomah went on to condemn what he said was the tendency of some Ghanaians to view every development with partisan political lenses.

"Let them remain in that cocoon where they think that everything must be partisan politics. Some of us, respectfully, are beyond that,” he said, adding: “I mean who in the NPP will call me and give me instructions?”
