Custodians Of Osu Stool Caution Authorities

Ahead of this year’s Homowo to be celebrated  by the people of Osu, in the Greater Accra Region, the custodians of the Osu Stool, Nii Nortey Adumuah IV (Osiahene) and the Osu Dzaase have issued a statement to warn state authorities to be cautious of their actions in respect of the Osu Chieftaincy disputes.

Nii Adumuah IV indicated that there were already signs of a possible clash because the “self-styled” Osu  Chief with the support of some state officials have gone ahead to perform the first ritual, which is the sowing or planting of food followed by the ban on drumming and noise making all by himself.

The Osu Osiahene said, what the “so -called-Chief” did was an aberration to the norm and people should treat that with all the contempt it deserved because the particular ritual which heralds the festival itself was the sole preserve of and duly performed by  the ‘Manklalo and the Wulomo alone as of right and per culture.

He said, what the “so-called-Chief”,Nii Kinka(a.k.a Kwatei Owuo from Ga) did is uncultured and a taboo against the traditional values of Osu because never in their history has any chief led the performance of that rituals and therefore they the custodians of the Osu Stool firstly dissociate themselves from the rituals and further warns the youth and the government officials who are hell bent on forcing Nii Kinka on the good people of Osu to be very careful.

“They should not assume that it shall be same all the time because very soon the long awaited truth shall emerge”, he added.
