Accused Didnt Show Up In Court

A 30-year-old mechanic who was charged with stealing failed to appear before the Amasaman District Court A for trial to begin.

Charles Kwabena Owusu was said to have stolen two generators valued at GH¢5, 500 which he was supposed to repair.

Owusu pleaded not guilty and was granted bail at the police station in the sum of GH¢2, 000 with two sureties.
The court, therefore, directed that the two sureties who bailed Owusu at the police station must be brought before it to explain why Owusu has since been absent from court.

They are to appear on June 15, 2015.

The facts of the case as presented to the court by the prosecutor, Sergeant Eric Darko, are that the complainant, Julius Kpodo, an auto welder, who resides at Kpobiman in Accra, gave two Honda generators, valued at GH¢5,500 to Owusu to repair in 2010.

Later, Owusu relocated to Pokuase without informing Kpodo.

Sergeant Darko said several attempts were made by Kpodo to reach Owusu but to no avail.

In 2015, Kpodo met Owusu at Pokuase and when he confronted him, he told Kpodo that the generators had been stolen.
