Chief Imam declares 3-day Muslim prayer

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, yesterday declared a three-day National Muslim prayer for all those who lost their lives, as a result of the fuel explosion and flood that hit Accra last Wednesday.

He has, therefore, directed all regional and district imams to start the prayer session from June 5.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Khuzaima Osman, Personal Assistant to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Sharubutu expressed his sympathies to the bereaved families and the victims.
He said all the necessary and essential measures be put in place to safeguard the people, and prevent the re-occurrence of such an unfortunate situation.

“I will humbly implore government and other stakeholders to quickly put in place measures that would help prevent the future occurrence of such unfortunate situation in the country,” the National Chief Imam said.
Sheikh Sharubutu also urged the government and donors to expedite action on providing resources to the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), to enable it provide relief items to those affected by the disaster.
