NPP Plans Befitting Funeral For Adams

The Upper East Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are feverishly preparing to give the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the party, Adams Mahama a befitting burial tomorrow, Sunday, June 7, 2015.

The mortal remains of the late NPP Chairman was interred in line with Islamic tradition on May 23 which was attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life.

The leadership of the NPP, including the 2016 flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and First Vice Chairman Freddy Blay, were in attendance.

Some past and present national executives also attend the funeral.

It was also attended by the Upper East Regional Minister, James Tiigah Zuugah and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership in the region.

Even though the Upper East Regional NPP Secretary, Cletus Ayambere in an earlier interview after the flagbearer’s reconciliatory speech, welcomed the National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong to the region, the two cannot be said to have been cleared by the NPP youth to attend the funeral.

It’s unclear whether the personalities would risk going for the funeral in view of the threat by the youth of the area.

The two national executives were warned by the party’s youth not to attend the funeral on May 23 and other activities of the party.

Some five regional executives of the NPP, including the Regional Youth Organizer, Bashiru Ibrahim, Regional Organizer, Jerry Asamni, the Regional Nasara Coordinator, Mba Siita, Women Organiser, Florence Sampokabila and 2nd-Vice Chairman Osman Kunkunaba have also been asked not to attend the funeral.

Daily Guide has gathered that a meeting with the youth over Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, as well as the five regional executives during the weekend was inconclusive.

Meanwhile, the Upper East Regional Police Command has revealed that it would not leave any stone unturned in its quest to protect lives and property in the Bolgatanga Municipality before, during and after the funeral of the late Adams Mahama on June 7, 2015.
