Blakk Rasta Takes On P.K. Yamoah's 'Serwaa Akoto'

The song is a rendition of Serwaa Akoto, the popular highlife tune that made waves in the 60s by legendary highlife musician, P.K. Yamoah.

On Serwaa Akoto, which is reggae, Blakk Rasta “raps” Serwaa Akoto, a woman he had longed wished to marry because she possesses the qualities he wants in a future wife.

For him, one thing every woman wants in  her husband is a hardworking man who can take good care of her and treat her well in the union  and that was exactly the message he preached to Serwaa Akoto to accept his proposal.

He sings about how Serwaa Akoto’s meek nature and beauty are an attraction for him to resist. He promises to be a good husband and a loving father to their unborn children if his proposal is accepted by the one woman he adores in his life.

Recorded by sound engineer Zapp Mallet last month, Serwaa Akoto is a nice piece by the controversial presenter/ musician.

Zapp Mallet is one of the revered Sound Producers/ Engineers  Ghana can boast of and the he aptly brought that experience to bear on this production.

According to Blakk Rasta, he had the inspiration to do a remix of the song from his father who played the song regularly in their home.

“Also, the “beauty of the lyrics caught my attention and inspired me to perform the song in a ‘Kuchoko’ rhythm style”.

Blakk Rasta’s previous albums are Rasta Shrine (2000), More Fyah (2002), Ganja Minister (2004), Natty Bongo (2006), Naked Wire (2008), Voice of the Afrikan Rebel (2009) and Born Dread (2011).
