Test Ebola Vaccine On Govt Officials

Private legal practitioner Kwame Boafo Akuffo says the trial of the Ebola vaccine should start with the people at the helm of affairs at the Health Ministry and other allied health agencies including the Food and Drugs Authority.

According to him, government has not investigated the vaccines well enough to know its impact and side effects on human beings.

“As public officials, if they say it’s good then they should start if nothing happens to them we will also follow,” he stressed.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has officially given an international pharmaceutical company approval to commence Ebola vaccine trial in the country. Civil societies and other organizations have kicked against the approval which was given on Monday.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM Wednesday, Mr. Akuffo expressed his utmost disgust at the decision to start the vaccination from an Ebola free country such as Ghana.

He urged the media to lead the campaign to ensure the Ebola vaccine trail is halted.

Mr. Akuffo also cautioned the general public to abstain from the exercise and not to be induced by the money and mobile phone involved. “Don’t let us buy Ebola with money,” he advised.
