NPP NEC Petitioned

Emmanuel A. Nartey has questioned the criteria the New Patriotic Party (NPP) used in vetting and endorsing candidates for its upcoming congress, stressing that the NPP had allowed people with questionable attributes to contest for Parliamentary primaries.

Focusing on the Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, Emmanuel A. Nartey indicated without fear or favour that, Mr. Asante-Bediako, one of the four persons vying for the Asene-Manso-Akroso parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP is one of such persons and must have been disqualified from the race.

In a petition he sent to the National Executive Committee of the NPP and copied the Regional Executives, Mr. Nartey stated instances to defend his allegation.

According to him, Mr Asante-Bediako once rented a flat, H/NO. F10, Lagoon Estate at Sakumono in Tema in the Greater Accra Region but failed to pay the accrued rent for four years, resulting in the Landlord Charles Kofi Danquah suing him in court.

The said suit, AL 47/2011, he added, was filed at the Automated Fast Track High Court in Accra and was presided over by His Lordship Justice Edward Amoako Asante.

The petition also indicated that the Judge in his ruling awarded the sum of US$22,750.00 and cost amounting to over GH ¢20,000.00 in favour of the landlord who was the Plaintiff in the case.
The petitioner, Mr.Nartey also stated that the Court in the process impounded the only valuable asset of Mr Asante-Bediako which is a benz saloon car with registration number GM 3491-14.

“Mr. Asante-Bediako filed a suit against the Plaintiff that the car belonged to one Kwabena Effah -Manu and so could not be auctioned. When the court did its investigation on the car, it was discovered that the documents on the car were fake,” he stated.

According to him, the Custom documents from Dabala near Aflao further exposed Mr. Asante-Bediako since they did not bear the name of the said owner.

He also averred that the said registration number was discovered to be that of a Nissan Pickup belonging to Japan Motors; hence Mr. Asante- Bediako’s failed to show up in Court with the owner of the car to prove his case.
He also stated in his petition that on May 19, 2015 the Court dismissed Mr. Asante-Bediako’s claim and warded a cost of GH¢5,000.00 against him.

Meanwhile the said car is still parked at the premises of the High Court.
Mr Asante, he said, is being sought after by the Court and the Plaintiff to impound any of his assets that they can lay hands on.

“As a sympathizer of the Great NPP, the least I expected is for the party not to allow such characters to represent the party at such a high level as a Member of Parliament,” he stated.
Emmanuel A. Nartey who is petitioning the National Executive Committee of the party also mentioned that there have been several petitions against Mr. Asante-Bediako’s nomination because he had not nurtured the Constituency for two years and also has a very questionable character.

“Besides he wrote that he is a Civil Engineer but could not provide any certificate to substantiate this assertion. His nomination form was not signed by the Constituency Chairman as at the close of filing date Thursday, April 30 2015 because he submitted the form to the Regional Research Officer late that night,” Mr.Nartey alleged.

Mr.Nartey stated that Mr. Asante-Bediako’s qualification to contest the primaries is still a mystery to him, stressing that the NPP will lose the elections should Mr. Asante-Bediako win the primaries and contest the elections in 2016.

He called on the NPP National Executive Committee to as a matter of urgency, investigate Mr. Asante-Bediako and get him out of the parliamentary race or seat down and allow the party to lose in the coming elections.
