69 Aspirants To Contest C/R NPP Primaries

Sixty Nine Aspirants including eight women are in a crucial race to contest for the position of parliamentary candidates for the New Patriotic Party in the twenty-three constituencies of the Central Region slated for June 13.

In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE, the Regional Secretary for the party, Kwamina Duncan stated that the regional branch of NPP is set and ready to conduct smooth and peaceful elections within the region.

He explained that out of 23 candidates, five are going unopposed including Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem , Assin Central, Effutu, Ekumfi and Agona East, noting that, there are as many youth aspirants who are below 40 years contesting.

Mr. Duncan said his outfit has made albums available for the various constituencies and to the Central Regional Electoral Commission for easy identification.

He added that his party has selected 23 venues in all the constituencies where the primaries will take place.

They include Gyaahadze as the venue for Effutu constituency primaries, KEEA: Elmina, Gomoa Central: Akomkrom, Upper Denkyira West: Denkyira Obuasi, Ajumako: Anyanmanmu, Mfantseman: Saltpond, Abura Asebu Kwamankese: Edumfa, Atti-Morkwa: Twifo Praso, Asikuma: Kokoso and, Gomoa East: Akraman.

The rest are Gomoa West: Mumford, Agona West: Swedru town hall, Cape Coast South: CNC, Cape Coast North: UCC, Assin Central: Kennedy Agyapong’s residency, Hemang Lower Denkyira: Gyakobu and Upper Denkyira: Dunkwa Community Centre,

The remaining are Assin North: Akomfudze, Assin South: Assin Accra, Ekumfi: Ekumfi Ekronful, Agona East: Asafo, Awutu Senya East: Bishop Mackara School near Kasoa filling station and Awutu Senya West: Sawinya.

Mr. Duncan appealed to the party members not to take it for granted that they have always had peaceful elections so they can misbehave, adding that, Ghanaians are expecting a lot from the NPP so they must have peaceful elections.
