Ebola Vaccine Trial: Like It Or Not; People Must Sacrifice For The Test - Deputy Energy Minister

Deputy Energy Minister, John Jinapor has encouraged volunteers at Hohoe in the Volta Region to allow themselves for the Ebola vaccine trials.

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, John Jinapor called on critics to tone down when lamenting about the vaccine trials that are yet to be undertaken in the Region.

He said though the outcome of the trials remain sketchy, it is however not advisable for anyone to discourage volunteers for the exercise.

To him, it's appropriate for the vaccine to be tested in the nation while there is no outbreak of the Ebola virus in order to have a solution for the disease.

"If nobody does it, you will never know one day then it will become worrisome. Eventually people must sacrifice. Even war – Second World War and First World War – Americans were not part of it. In Second World War, Hitler had not attacked America but somebody had to take the decision. What’s important is for us to do the right thing…We should be careful not to discourage everybody.”

However, he wants the health authorities to do the right thing and plan well for the trial to be successful.
