BECE Invigilator Arrested For Carrying Phone Into Exam Hall

An invigilator at the Senya Senior High School (SHS) centre in the Central Region has been arrested for allegedly carrying his phone into the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) hall and taking pictures.

The 2015 edition of the examination began today [Monday] with over 400,000  candidates from over 13,000 public and private basic schools participating.

According to Citi News’ Magdalene Larnyoh, the teacher was arrested after “he was spotted taking photos with his mobile phone in the examination hall.”

Per the rules governing the examination, the invigilators are not allowed to bring in any form of gadgets or foreign materials.

This follows recurring incident of examination malpractices in the past in which some invigilators have been implicated.

The Director General of Education in the district subsequently said his outfit will handle the issue as a criminal one.

The said invigilator has since been barred from the exercise.
