I Sometimes Beg For Money To Feed My Family - Ursula Owusu

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu Ekuful is worried about the seeming monetization of elections in the party.

According to her, the trend if not check could be very detrimental to the party in future elections.

Mrs. Owusu Ekuful’s concerns come following allegation of bribery in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the NPP held on Saturday June 13, 2015.

Many of the incumbent MPs who lost their seats accused their opponents of paying delegates huge sums of monies to win the elections.

Others according to reports resorted to the dreadful deity Antoa to ensure their monies don’t go waste.

Ursula on Adom TV said this could breed half-baked candidates for the party ahead of the 2016 general elections.

She expressed sympathy for all the incumbent MPs who were ousted by those who induced delegates with money.

Citing herself as an example, the Ablekuma West MP said given the various development projects she is doing in her constituency, her monthly salary is woefully inadequate.

Ursula Owusu revealed that she sometimes have to beg for money to feed her family in a month due to the strain on her to meet her obligation for party and constituents.
