The forward had previously already picked up his second yellow card of the group stages and would have missed the match against Venezuela without his dismissal anyway. The Selecao skipper was cautioned in his side's 2-1 win over Peru on matchday one for scraping away the referee's vanishing spray ahead of a free kick and again went into the referee's book in Santiago for handling the ball. The 23-year-old played a vital role in his side's win over Peru, scoring once and setting up the winner for Douglas Costa well into stoppage time, but as unable to make an impact against Colombia. The Barcelona man's absence at the Monumental in Santiago could see one of Douglas Costa, Philippe Coutinho or Robinho make their way into the starting XI.
