NPP Man Apologises Over Fake Posters

David Osei Mensah, a card-bearing member of the NPP at Suame in Kumasi, has rendered an unqualified apology to Lawyer John Darko, who contested the Suame NPP primary but lost.

He claimed that during the heat of the Suame race, he (Mensah) printed posters with the pictures of Lawyer Darko and Alan Kyeremanten, who contested the NPP presidential race and lost, with the inscription, ‘Agenda 2020.’

Mensah, a spare parts dealer, confessed that what he did was aimed at creating an erroneous impression that Lawyer Darko was against Nana Akufo-Addo’s 2016 presidential ambition so that the delegates would vote against him.

He admitted that perhaps his action contributed significantly to Lawyer Darko’s poor showing in last Saturday’s parliamentary primary which was won by the incumbent Suame MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Virtually admitting his guilt, he stated that there was no justification for his shameful action and apologised to Lawyer Darko, his supporters and the entire NPP members in the Suame constituency.

He said his action was a mere propaganda which was formulated by him to enable his preferred choice in the Suame NPP race to triumph ahead of Lawyer Darko, adding that he deeply regretted his action.

Mensah, who looked remorseful, walked to DAILY GUIDE’s office in Kumasi on Wednesday afternoon and started confessing, after which he appealed passionately to the defeated aspirant to forgive him.

He said he had realised that what he did was wrong, since it had the tendency of tarnishing Lawyer Darko’s image and creating deep cracks in the NPP, promising not to repeat his shameful action in future.

Mensah, who claimed to be a Christian, stated that there was absolutely nothing that he could do to compensate Lawyer Darko for the harm he had caused him, begging the defeated aspirant to forgive him in the name of God.

According to him, the NPP needs total peace and unity in order to help Nana Akufo-Addo win the 2016 polls, noting that his action clearly contradicted the party’s grand agenda of uniting as one to defeat the NDC.

Mensah also described his action as childish, assuring that henceforth he would lead a grand crusade against all party members who resort to propaganda to tarnish the image of other NPP members.

Again, he promised to use his energy and resources to support the party’s activities so that Nana Akufo-Addo would become president and restore the country to affluence in 2016.
