TOR Operations Will Be Profitable Soon CEO

Dr Kwame Ampofo, Chief Executive Officer of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) on Sunday pledged that within 18 months operations at TOR would be profitable to the country. He said there is no need to complain about TORs indebtedness because through economic and professional discipline, TOR would start making money for the country. Oil refineries in other countries are credible profit making ventures and Ghana can attain similar feat. Dr Ampofo made the pledge when addressing a meeting jointly organised by members of Ayawaso Central Constituency and Kwahuman branch of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra. It was attended by regional, district and local executives of the Party to deliberate on the attitude of Parliamentarians and ministers of state in relation to activists and foot soldiers since the Party assumed power this year. Dr Ampofo noted that bills on TOR before Parliament were being reviewed to enable local and private individuals to provide services such as transport, catering and other subsidiary services. He promised to encourage technology transfer that would help train local engineers for TOR to become self sufficient in human resource. Nana Owoahene Akyeampong II, Former Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in-charge of Fisheries cautioned the ministers and government appointees to be careful about their activities because the trappings of their offices were very tempting. He advised them to consult the necessary authorities when in doubt about issues.
