Victory 2016, We Must Eliminate All Impediments Osei Assibey

The Kwabre East constituency chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Osei Assibey has called on all the followers of the party to close their ranks in order to eliminate all impediments to enable it recapture power in the 2016 elections.

He said after most of the constituencies have had their primaries, it is imperative for all the supporters of the party, especially, those who were defeated candidates to work together with the winners to ensure a resounding victory in 2016.

“It is obvious that victory is beckoning NPP in 2016, but to achieve this we must all work collectively to eliminate all impediments in particular, personal interest to attain the ultimate goal of unseating this incompetent administration,’’ he said.

Mr. Assibey spoke to the DAILY HERITAGE shortly after the officials of the Electoral Commission declared the results of the parliamentary primary for the constituency.

In the election, a twenty-two-year-old law student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Francisca Oteng Mensah, garnered 321 votes to dethrone the reigning Member of Parliament for the area, Kofi Frimpong who only managed 187 votes, while the remaining candidates bagged the following: Lawyer Anthony Osei Poku -203, Adjei Sefa-33, Emmanuel Kwadwo Owusu-13.

Mr. Assibey said the ultimate goal for the constituency executives is to work assiduously to increase the voting margin of the party in 2016.

He noted that thrashing the ruling party in the constituency is not a difficult task in the sense that since 1996 the seat has remained one of the safest constituencies for NPP, but this time round, they want to win by at least 90%.

He revealed that all old hands of the party would be brought on board to campaign vigorously ahead of the elections in 2016.

“It is on record that NPP has been winning the seat since 1996, but we would not sit down to fold our arms without working, we need to win both president and parliament massively,” he remarked.
