PHOTOS: Stars Take Over Kumasi With "Soccer Fiesta"

Music, movie, Radio and TV and soccer stars took over the Ashanti regional capital over the weekend for a good course.

The stars did a number of activities to entertainment and contribute to national development. The stars who touched down in Kumasi on Saturday evening after an eight-hour road trip from Accra took part in a cleanup exercise in Asafo the Sunday morning before the fund raising game.

Top Ghanaian striker and Captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan and Togolese soccer superstar Emmanuel Adebayor led the cleanup exercise descending into gutters with a shovel clear several chocked drainage system in Asafo and its environs.

Other notable personalities also joined in the cleanup exercise while promoting the campaign for good sanitation practices.

The delegation then proceeded to the Children’s Hospital in Pampaso where Asamoah Gyan and Emmanuel Adebayor commissioned one of their refurbished wards financed by the joint-foundation of the two national team captains before heading out to the stadium for the climax of this year’s Star Soccer Fiesta.

The show was started with an electric performance by Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy got the entire stadium on dancing with his smash hit ‘Pull up’. The professional players took a 3-0 lead through former Hearts of Oak forward Winful Cobbinah, Asamoah Gyan and electrified the stadium exciting game with each goal from the celebrity team counting as two.

Jupiter and Gasmila took center stage at halftime performing their hit songs most notably the new craze ‘Telemo’. Kumawood actors Lil Wyne, Kwaku Manu and Akrobeto didn’t miss the opportunity to thrill the crowd more with their dance moves.

Razak Ibrahim scored to pull the professional players level at the start of the second half.

The professional players restored their lead moments later only for Funny Face to level the scores from a spot kick after Emmanuel Adebayor had been fouled in the box.

Mubarak Wakso then scored to level the game at 6-6 before Funny Face scored in the last minutes to win the day for the Ghanaian celebrities captained by musician Kwabena Kwabena to clench a 8-6 win against the professional players.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye presented the trophy to the winning team.

Some of the notable faces present at the Soccer Fiesta included Actor Lilwin, Tinny, Obuor, Old Soldier, Jupiter, King David, Gasmila, Stonebwoy, Samini, Bismark the Joke, Lucky Mensah, Stephen Appiah, Nollywood comic actor Mr. Ibu, Reggie Rockstone, Gospel musician OJ, FBS, Oguns, Baffour Gyan, DJ Breezy, among others.
