Bankswitch JD Saga: Dufuor And Hannah Tetteh Must Be Dragged To Court... (AUDIO)

Kudzo Akpabey, a Financial Consultant is accusing a former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffour and current Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh of causing financial loss to the state.

He believes the two are the best persons to be grilled for answers to what led to the abrogation of the controversial Bankswitch contract which has left a judgment debt of Ȼ197 million hanging on the neck of the country like an albatross.

He was speaking in an exclusive interview with PeaceFM's Morning Show Host, Kwami Sefa Kayi.

The IT Solutions provider, in 2010, hauled government to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague demanding the award of Ȼ853 million for the illegal termination of a contract it signed with the government in 2007 for the provision of a customers' valuation software for the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

After the court agreed with the arguments of the plaintiff, it ruled the contract was wrongfully abrogated and awarded damages in excess of Ȼ197 million.

And Kudzo Akpabey claims then President John Evans Atta Mills ordered Bankswitch to carry on with the job for a period of three months, but some persons in his(Mills’) administration intentionally cancelled the contract. He insisted both ministers cannot be left off the hook.

We need to drag them to answer who cancelled it. They had no business… no business cancelling it...if we have a country and government has gone into a contract for 5 years with a company, why won’t we be patient. Even if you don’t like the company why don’t you wait for the contract to expire before you take any steps.

Dr Dufuor and Hannah Tetteh must answer it. They are candidates for prosecution. Both of them must answer to Ghanaians and they must be dragged to court to go and answer," he said on Kokrokoo, Tuesday.

Kudzo Akpabey also narrated how the Bankswitch transaction started.
