Mr George Omane, immediate past National Chairman of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships, has stressed the need for the Fellowship to support members to play their roles effectively as the heads of their marital homes.
He said members should not relinquish their responsibilities towards their families, but maintains efforts to raise their children in the fear of the Lord. Mr Omane made the call at the Inauguration and induction service for the Yennyawoso Good Shepherd Methodist Men’s Fellowship of the New Tafo Circuit of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church.
The ceremony coincided with this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration. He said fathers should not shirk their responsibilities, noting that the spate of armed robbery, and other criminal activities, was as a result of broken homes and lack of parental care.
The immediate past National chairman advised members to utilize their God-given talents to assist the Church and society.
Mr Edward Nketia-Asante, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Fellowship, said the inauguration which coincided with this year’s Fathers’ Day” celebration was historic. He said they should offer effective leadership and lead worthy lives to be role models for their children and members of the Fellowship.
Very Reverend Samuel Kwaku Opoku, Superintendent Minister of the New Tafo Circuit, who preached on “Jesus, The Lord Over Our Storm,” said the leadership should stand firm and brave the storms that may arise in the performance of their duties in the Fellowship, and should not expect all to be rosy.
He called for co-operation among the members, as they aspired to attain greater heights.
