Kojo Preko Calls Musicians And Movie Producers Hypocrites

Following the recent floods and gas explosion at a Fuel Filling Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra through which many people had their properties destroyed and some losing their lives, some Ghanaian musicians have composed tribute songs dedicated to the dead ones and their families.

Some of these musicians include Keche, Barima Sidney, Shatta Wale, Nero X and few others but it seems the idea of composing tribute songs for the dead isn’t much of a good idea to some people. Speaking to Flex Newspaper in an exclusive interview, a Radio Presenter and Producer with Kasapa 102.3 fm, Kojo Preko Dankwah, has condemned all the musicians who have composed songs for the dead ones noting that rather than composing tribute songs, they should give back to society what they have benefitted from the society in terms of money to help the families of the dead in these sorrowful moments.

He also expressed his surprise at the managers of these artistes who allowed or may have consented to the recording of these tribute songs adding that Ghana has seen terrible and witnessed various sad moments and that the recording of tribute songs by our artistes is not the best they can do. Kojo Preko Dankwah noted that these artistes gain so much from the society and as such they should do much more to help the society in times like this rather than capitalize on issues like kpakpakpa, ebola, dumsor, the floods and the gas explosion to do music.

He also cautioned movie producers in the country especially the Kumawood movie producers to desist from producing any movie with respect to the recent floods and gas explosion at the Fuel Filling Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra through which many people had their properties destroyed and some losing their lives just for the sake of making money especially when findings of the investigations into the disaster has not been made public.

Kojo Preko Dankwah stressed that most of our artistes are hypocritical in their actions and noted that musicians, as part of their Social Responsibility, should record songs on floods, environmental cleanliness, health issues and other topical social issues as part from their albums rather than wait for disasters to be experienced before they do so.

He also noted that just as our artistes are hypocrites, the same can be said about our movie producers as they also do not do anything to help the society but wait for disaster to befall people and then they capitalize on the pain and loss of people to produce their movies.
