Former DCE Receives Death Threats

Mr Joseph Dofoyenah, the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahanta West, has lodged a complaint with the police for a death threat message received on his mobile phone.

He told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that he did not offend anybody during his tenure of office, and wondered why someone would like to take his life.

The message read: “My brother u have step on a lion’s tale, u will smell what is more than acid very well soon. Trust me we are bader than u, you think u can just touch anybody and go scot free, u will hear of me very soon at ahanta west. FOOL”.

Mr. Dofoyenah who was removed from office in February this year, said the message was sent through his number 0543551684 on Monday, June 22 at 12:47 hours.

He said he lodged the complaint the next day at the Agona-Nkwanta Police Station.

The former DCE said he had made several efforts to contact the sender of the message, but the phone was switched off.

The Agona-Nkwanta District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Osei, confirmed to the GNA that the former DCE had officially lodged a complaint with the police, and investigations were underway to track down the sender of the message.

So far no one has been arrested in connection with the text message.
