Shanghai SIPG Table Bid For Asamoah Gyan

The Chinese Super League side have made a huge offer to lure the former Sunderland forward from Al Ain. Shanghai SIPG have opened talks with UAE side Al Ain over Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan after winning his third league title with the Boss, according to sources confirmed by ESPN FC. The 29-year-old unexpectedly joined Al Ain on loan from Sunderland in 2011 after a successful debut season in the English Premier League and made the deal permanent in 2012. He became an instant hit in the Gulf region, winning the Arabian Gulf Leagues topscorer award on three consecutive occasions. Al Ain won last seasons domestic title but suffered a quarterfinal elimination from the Asian Champions League while Gyan, who recorded 13 goals, lost his top scorer award to former Roma striker Mirko Vucinic, who netted 25 times. The Ghana star has three more years left on his contract with Al Ain. Shanghai manager Sven-Goran Erickson, after finishing second last season, is on the lookout for a striker to match city rivals Shanghai Shenhua, who recently signed former Chelsea and Newcastle striker Demba Ba from Turkish side Besiktas. Shanghai SIPG are believed to be ready to improve Gyans current weekly earnings to $250,000. SIPG will compete in the 2016 AFC Champions League. Gyan is Ghanas all time goal top scorer with 48 goals from 90 caps with the Black Stars.
