Kuabgenu Coup FailsAs YEA Staff Repel Him

The Head Office of the rebranded Youth Employment Agency was the centre of controversy and chaos last Thursday as controversial Vincent Kwabla Kuagbenu who is expected to assume his new position this week as the new Boss of YEA staged an unsuccessful ‘coup’ in an attempt to take over the office and demand files and other documentations from the officers.

It took the resolve of the gallant officers on duty that day to resist Mr. Kuabgenu and his henchmen from executing their diabolic agenda. Just when the situation began to get dirty, officers from the National Security apparatus had to intervene to calm tempers as Mr. Kuagbenu who was dismissed from the National Service Scheme a couple of years ago could be heard raving and ranting on top of his voice.

According to reports reaching The New Crusading GUIDE, Mr. Kuagbenu who is expected to assume his new position this week earlier stormed the YEA Head Office on 22nd June, 2015 as early as 6:30 am and attempted to forcibly enter and occupy the office in the absence of the Acting Executive Director, Kobby Acheampong. It is on record that the Staff and Management of YEA have expressed their disappointment with his appointment and it is expected that his latest actions would make the office a focus of media attention.

The New Crusading GUIDE has gathered that the Regional Directors have converged in Accra and would this morning make a formal appeal to President John Mahama revoke his appointment.

“What is more surprising is that, he (Kuabgenu) has ganged up with some disgruntled and non-performing officers of YEA to mount this takeover”. A source told this paper. According to the source, the supposed assault on one Adongo by Kobby Acheampong was not a true reflection on what actually transpired but it was one of the many diabolic plans outlined to be executed.
Mr. Kuagbenu is also said to have stormed the Labone office of YEA without any invitation and sought to partake in a scheduled recruitment interview for the Agency.

According to a security source, one of the new allies of Mr. Kuagbenu who snatched pay roll documents from the hands of the Pay roll Manager on Friday is on the wanted list of the BNI. The source mentioned Alhaji Sulemana Ibrahim, Director of Finance, Mr. Selasi Attipoe-Fittz, and Robert Mensah Akpedonu both of the Human Resource Directorate as forming the tripartite team of schemers for Mr. Kuagbenu.

Last week, the Regional Directors of YEA issued a joint press statement to express lack of confidence in the leadership qualities of Mr. Kuagbenu. They also touted the sterling performance of the Kobby Acheampong for his short stint with the agency.

“Under the leadership of Hon. Kwabena Owusu Akyeampong, the Agency has gone through proper re-structuring, part which gave birth to the Youth Employment Act, Act 887, staffs were trained on customized monitoring and evaluation, we now have functioning and helpful legal and Audit department with the Agency which were previously not there.

“It was therefore a huge surprise to us when the President announced a new Executive Director in the person of Vincent Kuagbenu to take over the management of the Agency. Sceptical as we were, it was our belief that he was coming to continue with the good work that his predecessor has started. But to our dismay, even before he assumes office he is on record to have stormed the Head Office yesterday to actually have not exchange with Hon. Kwabena Owusu Akyeampong.

They did not understand why Mr Kuabgenu had aligned himself with some staff members who were part of the old management and even indicted in the GYEEDA report at the Head Office “to create a mess by openly supporting a demonstration against the Acting Executive Director and threatening that when he finally assumes he will make sure he reverses all that the Acting Executive Director has put in place for Agency to take off. This position of his will take the Agency many steps back, which could have serious repercussions for the Agency and the country as a whole”.

According some Staff at the YEA, the “resolve by Kobby Acheampong to streamline things here did not go down well with some people and so they set out to haunt him out. He successfully revoked the appointments of persons with fake certificates, retrieved monies from some officers as well so he courted enmity for being on the side of right. It is his kind we need here and not Mr. Kuagbenu who was indicted in the NSS scandal.

The YEA would soon receive about 400 million Ghana Cedis to commence its projects after the passage of the Youth Employment Act, Act 887 and it is the fear of the Staff that, that money may not be well utilised under the new leadership.

Please stay tuned as we bring readers details on how some people were employed with fake certificates and how a vehicle belonging to the YEA was seized by a popular hotel after an officer of YEA had lodged there for more than a month but failed to settle his bills.
