Talensi by-election: Defeat Is Staring NPP In The Face UFP

The United Front Party (UFP) has alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is making false claims against the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Talensi Police because they are aware of their imminent defeat in the July 7 by-election.

A statement signed by the UFP’s Director of Communications, Nana Kusi-Poku Listowell stated that since their arrival in the Talensi constituency, happenings on the ground indicate that the NPP will lose the by-election which is why “the NPP, led by Freddie Blay are deliberately crying foul knowing that defeat is staring them in the face.”

According to the UFP, the NPP’s press conference on Saturday was “a deceitful, dishonest and shocking press conference aimed at preparing the minds of their supporters for their defeat.”

The party has since advised the general public to treat the press statement from the NPP and the “diabolical Freddie Blay and his boys with the greatest contempt it deserves.”

The UFP also criticized the campaign strategy adopted by the NPP saying, “we are not happy with the trend the NPP is setting by always bastardizing our state institutions that are doing their lawful duties.”

The statement added that since the country’s main opposition party has prevented its National Chairman and General Secretary from partaking in the campaigning, it is evident that they “cannot manage their own party so they do not have any reason to blame their inefficiencies on the state institutions.”

UFP supports NDC candidate

The UFP in their statement announced that it has thrown its weight behind the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Talensi Parliamentary candidate, BT Baba.

According to them, the decision was taken because they had to withdraw their candidate and “since we do not believe in the word ‘opposition’, we decided on the NDC’s BT Baba who is very popular.”

They further indicated that BT Baba will best serve the interest of the people of Talensi because “he is popular, loved by all in the constituency and above all, he is more than capable to achieve what the UFP aims at achieving for our brothers and sisters in Talensi hence, our fervent endorsement.”

The statement added that BT Baba’s message of development, peace and unity is exactly what the people of Talensi need.
