First Capital Plus League: Ashgold Stretch Lead As Hearts Suffer Setback In Accra

Current league leaders Ashgold yesterday whipped their pursuers Aduana Stars 1-0 to open a seven-point lead in the First Capital Premier League (FCPPL) at the Len Clay Stadium.

Yakubu Mohammed was the only player to hit the back of the net after many attempts by the two sides.

The visitors fought back to cancel the lead but Ashgold, determined to avoid a second streak loss after losing to Hasaacas 0-2 last week, protected their slender lead till the end.

The Miners are now comfortable on the summit with 40 points, with Aduana dropping to the fourth spot with 32 points.

Ashgold will next travel to the dreaded home of Heart of Lions in Kpando to battle the Randy Abbey men on July 19.
