Chapter One Brings Fashion Hope From South Africa

The Chief Executive Officer of Chapter One Classics, a fashion designing house in Ghana, Mr. Leslie Wiredu has said there is hope for the fashion industry in Ghana after his fashion educational trip to South Africa.

He said this when Flex Newspaper called on him to find out what he learnt from his educational tour that took him to over five universities in South Africa. He couldn’t hide his joy for the industry with a reason that all is not lost for the fashion industry as many thought.

“You never know what you have until you see others” the fashionista said with a stern face. He explained further that it is true when you compare what we have here to the folks at South Africa, we are nowhere close but considering what their system does for them, fashion designers in Ghana shouldn’t cry at all.”

Leslie Wiredu explained that it is true the future for Ghana’s fashion industry looks gloomy but it is not impossible for Ghana to break through. “All we need to do at this juncture is to liaise with the wax print companies and work hand in hand,” he advised. The Chapter One boss added that if their industry jelled, it would create jobs for the numerous unemployed youths in the country especially the very creative ones because wax print companies need even designs to work with hence more designers will be employed.

On his sponsored trip to South Africa and what he learnt, he said he has learnt a lot especially the tricks to making the international world look your way which he is ready to share with all and sundry. He agreed to share all he has learnt from his trip.

Mr. Wiredu bemoaned the relationship between fashion designers in Ghana. He added that the industry players are not united and as a result cannot fight a course that will aid their industry. He said pragmatic measures will have to be taken by both the industry players and the powers that be to make fashion in Ghana take its place.
