CODEO To Observe Talensi By-Election

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has issued a statement stating that they would be monitoring the anticipated Talensi by-election.

The by-election has become necessary following the enskinment and subsequent resignation of the incumbent Member of Parliament for Talensi, Mr Robert Nachinab Doameng Masore, who has been installed as the Paramount chief of the Tongo traditional area.

Below is a statement from CODEO

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) will observe the Electoral Commission (EC) organized Talensi Constituency (Upper East Region) by-election scheduled for Tuesday, 7th 2015.

CODEO will deploy a total of 30 observers throughout the constituency. The observers will be stationed at selected polling stations, and some will be roaming throughout polling stations in the constituency.

The observers will observe various aspects of the election process including polling station set up and its opening, the application, and compliance to voting procedures, conduct of polling officials, party agents and security officials and the counting and declaration of results.

CODEO entreats all stakeholders, particularly political parties, involved in this exercise to observe the cardinal electoral principle of freeness and fairness in the discharge of their various roles. It is also our hope that the election will be conducted in a largely transparent, competent and professional manner.

CODEO will share its observation findings with the public at the end of the exercise.

Signed.

Mr. Albert Kofi Arhin
