Aspiring General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC) Atik Mohammed has called on President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss Interior Minister Mark Woyongo over his recent remarks.

The Interior Minister, during an interview on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM made some comments regarding the violence that was perpetrated at Talensi.

The Talensi by-election was characterized by some pockets of violence and gun fires during a clash between vigilante groups, Azorka boys and Bolga Bulldogs.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Interior Minister addressing the issue reportedly jumped to the defense of Azorka boys.

He described the attacks as a legitimate case of "violence begets violence."

“Violence begets violence. Azorka boys will not act violent if they were not provoked. The other side also brought in some people…the Invincible Forces and then the Bolga Boys, so violence begets violence.

“What I mean is that if you are a peace lover and someone comes to attack you, definitely you have to protect yourself”, Mark Woyongo remarked on Kumasi based Ultimate Radio.

Addressing the issue, Atik Mohammed expressed worry over the Minister's justification of the attacks.

According to him, Hon. Mark Woyongo's stay in office will spell doom for the nation, come 2016.

He found the remarks very disparaging, stating emphatically that the "President of this nation must fire this man with immediate effect because what he has done means 2016, if only he will be our Interior Minister; people will die and we will find a justification for it. And that is objectionable. We shouldn’t accept it.”

He further disclosed on Peace FM's "kokrokoo" that he is privy to the identities of the Azorka boys and believed they were purposely stationed at particular locations during the by-election.

“They were stationed at a particular location. They were not observers. They were not monitors. [At the end of the day] and they had their cards, at the end of the day; they were the same people who did such things. "
