I Suspect Yamoah Ponkoh Is Not An NDC Member...

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency chairman for Ejisu/Juaben in the Ashanti Region says he suspects sacked Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the constituency, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh is not a true member of the party.

According to Eugene Agyarko, during the tenure of Yamoah Ponkoh as the MCE, his activities have sharply divided the party in the constituency and making it unattractive to the constituents in the area.

Though Mr. Ponkoh has been asked to step aside as the MCE, Mr. Agyarko speaking on Adom FM on Monday claimed that the sacked MCE does not have the party at heart and therefore discharges his duties with impunity and disrespect to the executives.

“Yamoah Ponkoh has never shown any commitment in his work throughout his stay as the MCE. He always shows disrespect to his people, he didn’t come to help NDC but to work for his selfish interest. Sometimes looking at his actions, I suspect he is even not an NDC member...,” he asserted.

A letter dated July 8, 2015 and signed by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Collins Dauda, indicating to Yamoah Ponkoh that his tenure of office expired on July 5, 2015, went viral on the social media over the weekend.

Mr. Ponkoh has expressed anger over the bizarre manner in which his sack letter got to the social media, even before he could see it.

He suspects that his detractors at the registry department of the municipal assembly intentionally leaked the official letter to the public; and has vowed to make sure that the traitor is exposed and prosecuted accordingly.

Part of the terse letter, copies of which had been sent to the vice president, chief of staff and other key personalities ordered Yamoah Ponkoh to hand over all government property in his care to the Ashanti Regional Minister.

He said the decision by some staffers of the assembly to leak the confidential letter was a clear indication that he had several saboteurs at the assembly.

But Eugene Agyarko who recounted how Yamoah Ponkoh had a misunderstanding with him because of GHC 400 meant for party funeral called on the president not to rescind his decision and reinstate Yamoah Ponkoh since he has been the number one enemy of the NDC in the constituency.
