Man Arrested For Robbing Chinese GH220,000

The Kaneshie police in Accra have arrested one out of two suspected armed robbers who allegedly inflicted gunshot wounds on a Chinese national after robbing him of GH¢220,000 at North Kaneshie.

Kofi Agyei aka Kofi Daba, allegedly committed the act together with an accomplice now at large, using a motorbike, on June 17, 2015 at about 12:30pm.
Daba, after allegedly taking the money, used part of it to purchase items including 30-inch plasma television set, a home theater, Corona air conditioner, a Diya standing fan, gas cylinder, a Honda motorbike and a pressing iron.

The rest included a stabilizer, a Sharp fridge, Vinoro mobile phone.
The suspect is in police custody assisting in investigations.

Briefing the media, Chief Superintendent Flence Adika, Kaneshie district police commander, said the Chinese on June 17, 2015 went and withdrew the money from a bank at Ridge, Accra, for his tricycle and generator business.

On the way back to his office, the Chinese, who was in the company of his driver and an interpreter, stopped at a restaurant at North Industrial Area for some food.

Within some seconds, Daba, together with his accomplice, on board a motorbike, emerged and shot at the vehicle the victim was occupying around 12:30pm.

The two then purportedly picked the money, concealed it in two polythene bags and fled.
The victim, who was severely injured, was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment.

A complaint was later lodged with the police for investigations.
Police intelligence led to the arrest of the suspect at his hometown in the Ashanti Region where he had used part of his booty to purchase the above-listed items.

When asked where he got the money from, Daba said he stole it during the June 3 floods from a passenger.

He is in custody assisting in police investigations.
