Hearts Coach On League Title

Accra Hearts of Oak coach, Nii Noi Thompson says he is still hopeful his side will win the 2008/9 Glo Premier League. In post match comments after a disappointing draw with visiting Wa All Stars at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Monday, the distraught coach said Hearts suffers from some level of player indiscipline and low fitness levels which have seen the side whittle its points lead from 13 to just 2, with four more games to go. Angry Hearts fans expectantly rained curses at the clubs managers, calling for their heads after Class One Referee S.K. Gyasi of Nsawam ended proceedings. The match was originally slated for Sunday but was rained off. Douglas Nkrumah had given Hearts of Oak a first half lead after rifling in from close range in the 40th minute, however, Gafaru Nasiru leveled the scores in the 51st minute. Indeed All Stars could have carried the day as they danced around the Hearts defencemen but blew the resulting chances, ending the game with the same result as their first round encounter at Wa. There is still hope. We are doing our best and the fans will have to exercise patience, said the Hearts coach. Hearts lead the league race with 46 points, followed in second place by rivals, Asante Kotoko, who have 44 points. Hearts next play away to Kessben FC. They will then host Bechem Chelsea and trek to Berekum to face Arsenals before closing the league campaign with relegation certainties, Sporting Mirren at the Accra Stadium. Kotoko on the other hand engage Liberty Professionals in Accra in their next game, then host relegation haunted Sekondi Hasaacas at the Baba Yara Stadium, then visit regional rivals Ashantigold at Obuasi before ending matters with city rivals King Faisal.
