FIFA to Rule on Agogo-Zamalek Impasse

World's football governing body, Fifa is expected to hear the case involving Black Stars forward Manuel Agogo and Zamalek on Thursday after the striker endured a miserable twelve month spell in Egypt. The 29-year-old abrogated his contract with the Cairo-based side two months ago and reported the club to Fifa for breach of contract. Agogo told Fifa in a letter that there had been several breaches of his contract and efforts to get the Egyptian FA to resolve the issue fell on deaf ears. He signed a three-year contract under the leadership of Abbas Mamdouh in July last year but fell out with the new board after the returnee president was ousted. Zamalek also reported the matter to Fifa and are seeking a US$3 million compensation package for abrogating his contract. The ruling could pave the way for Agogo to resume active football after several clubs expressed interest in him. Greek side Pananios are the frontrunners for his signature but must beat a host of clubs including French side Auxerre.
