Ghana Is In Serious Trouble...It Will Take A Miracle To Grow - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper says he is shocked that Ghana's economy will grow by 3.5 percent.

Speaking on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Mr. Pratt noted that it will be a miracle to the nation should Ghana indeed see such improvement.

He was speaking in relation to the revelation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that Ghana's economy will grow by such percentage.

Addressing the issue, Mr. Pratt said; “I am shocked that even the economy is going to grow by 3 percent. It’s a miracle that the economy is growing at all. Because if you look at the effect, the energy crisis alone on the economy and in spite of that energy crisis; the economy is going to grow at 3.5 percent. Isn’t it a miracle?

To him, Ghana is in "serious trouble" and this is why the country's growth will perhaps be a miracle to him and the lot of Ghanaians.

I think we’re in trouble. This country is in serious trouble. It has been in trouble for a very (very) long time and we’re still in trouble.

He however advised the government not to be ashamed to solicit help from European countries so far as growth and development of the economy is concerned.

No country is an island. So you need to look at countries with the potentials; countries which help you to develop your own potentials and so on…” he said wondering why “we’re afraid of America. We fear Britain. We are afraid of Germany."
