Korle Bu Relocates NICU For Renovation Works

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has been relocated to the East Wing of the Maternity Block of the hospital.

This is to enable the management of the hospital to renovate the main NICU.

A statement signed and issued by the head of Public Relations of the hospital, Mr Mustapha Salifu, said as a result of the renovation, the hospital was unable to take new referral cases.

“Patients who require neonatal services should thus be referred to other hospitals for the necessary care,” it said.

It said facilities at the NICU were being evacuated to the temporary location to enable the renovation works to begin.

The statement said the renovation works were expected to be completed by Monday, November 9, 2015.

“The renovation, which is part of the major retooling of the hospital by the government, will include the complete replacement of all equipment with new ones and structural works,” it said.

It explained that the renovation was being done to improve the services the NICU offered to its cherished neonates.
