Dont Trust Afoko, Agyapong Ayisi Boateng Tells Nana Addo

A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party has advised the Flagbearer of the party to, as a matter of urgency, consider the setting up of his own campaign machinery to prosecute the agenda of winning the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Ayisi Baoteng believes it is about time Nana Akufo Addo took his destiny into his own hands, rather than relying on the general party structure.

According to the NPP founding member, the national leadership of the party, more especially Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, General Secretary and Paul Afoko, National Chairman can’t be trusted to lead the affairs of the party moving forward.

In his view, the two are yet to demonstrate enough commitment and zeal needed to propel the NPP to victory, hence the need for the Flagbearer to look elsewhere if the party can capture power.
Mr. Ayisi Boateng contends that the actions and inaction of the two leading national leaders do not inspire hope amongst the grassroots of the party; a development which he said could adversely affect the party if the status quo was allowed to persist.

The NPP member’s comments come in the wake of recent reports of an unsuccessful Steering Committee Meeting organized by the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Paul Afoko.

According to him, the way and manner the meeting was called smacks off suspicion and he was, therefore, not surprised that lots of members refused to attend.

“I think that it’s about time we call a spade a spade and not a big spoon, Mr. Agyepong and Afoko ought to be told emphatically that most of their actions are not in the interest of the party, since a party in opposition seeking to win an election can’t operate like that,” he fumed.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng averred that both the National Chairman and General Secretary have been given enough benefit of the doubt to prove their commitment, but they keep on disappointing supporters.
“Kwabena Agyepong, the CEO (as he claims he is?) of our great political organization has woefully failed in his duty to ensure completion of ordinary parliamentary primaries supposed to have been completed on June 13th , but has still left a lot ‘hanging’, thus creating anxieties and ‘rancour in those constituencies, he said.

The NPP leading member further observed: “Ordinarily, the CEO should have looked at outstanding issues with an eagle eye and acted expeditiously on them. Yet, he chooses to stay aloof and in some instances takes unilateral decision to suit his whims and caprices?”

Mr. Ayisi Boateng intimated that it high time the party called the bluff of the General Secretary and start vigorous campaign to get Ghanaian voters to understand the need to change John Mahama and the NDC, who are destroying our dear country through corruption, thievery, heaping of insults and display of arrogance by Prez Mahama himself, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur and many more persons in government.

According to him, the only way to cure all the mischief and put the party on the right focus as well as motivate the grassroots is for the Flagbearer to set up a campaign team that will become the face of the party.

Though the leading party figure refused to comment on the composition of the Campaign Machinery and whether the national leadership should form an integral party of it, he indicated that Nana Addo as an astute politician knows how to organize a formidable team that can spearhead the crusade to return the NPP to power.
