A group calling itself Concerned NADMO Unpaid Staff, Ghana have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in their several failed attempts to demand for their two (2) year salaries.

According to the aggrieved workers of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) numbering 2,000 in the country, they are demanding monies they have duly worked for in the past 2 years.

The group maintained that their situation is horrible as there is no evidence of hope of getting their salaries, thus their decision to formally notify President John Mahama to intervene.

In their petition, the Concern NADMO Unpaid Staff, Ghana, revealed that they have exhausted the strength to manage the dire situation, hence their desperation require immediate intervention from the president.

The group stated the reason for the worry to be that NADMO continuously say it has not received financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. It added though Controller and Accountants General in January 2015 published the names of all the unpaid staff with monies quoted on their online payslips, the said monies never reflected in their accounts.

Non-Payment Of Salaries To Some Staff Of NADMO

We wish to bring to your attention that we have worked for the Government for at least Two (2) years without salary. Some of us have even worked for over Two (2) to Three (3) years. Nationwide, we the unpaid workers numbered closed to two thousand (2000). Our situation, both desperate and horrible, is worsened by the non-evidence of hopes of even getting our salaries. Accordingly, we deem it a privilege to notify formally Your Highest Office.

We are Family Men and Women and many of us were posted to stations that are not our native homes. Therefore, we buy food to eat, pay rent and utility bills and still must take on our family responsibilities. Having managed this extremely dire situation for two to three years, we are exhausted and desperately require immediate intervention from your office.

Without your intervention, Your Excellency, our hope of getting our salaries is extremely thin. The reason for our worry is that NADMO continuously says it has not received Financial Clearance from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MoFEP). In January 2015, the Controller and Accountants General (CAG) published the names of all of us (the unpaid staff) with monies quoted on our online payslips but the said monies never reflected in our accounts. Since then our names were deleted from the Validation System. Mr. President, only your intervention can make MoFEP give NADMO the financial clearance.

While acknowledging the tireless effort Government is making to normalize many of our turbulent economic issues, we still pray your office to intervene in our issue as soon as you can so that our names too will get into the payroll. We are not demanding monies to be given to us freely but we are demanding monies we have duly worked for. We have worked for several months on empty pockets and on empty stomachs and are still doing so for the Government of Ghana. But now, we are exhausted.

We chose to address your office rather resort to the usual mass demonstration on streets, which continuously sends horrible signals about Ghana to the rest of the world. With this sense of nationalism, we hope Your High Office will address our desperate situation as soon as possible. We have thrust in you, we have hope in you and we count on your kind co-operation and fatherly care to seeing smiles on our faces by the end of this Month (July, 2015).
